Crazy Ways to Use Your Instant Pot You Might Not Have Thought Of

Have you heard of the Instant Pot? Caught wind of the craze?

If you haven’t, you really need to check out why this amazing gadget is my all-time favorite cooking appliance I own!

It has made my life a million times easier. Our family has a ton of varied food allergies and the Instant Pot has rescued me on more than one occasion!

But before you think that roasts and rice are the only thing the beloved Instant Pot is good for, take a look at some crazy and unexpected ways to use your Instant Pot:

Have You Only Been Using Your Instant Pot for the Typical?

So you have an Instant Pot and you’ve been using it regularly to cook all the typical pressure cooker dishes?

You put it to good use for your Sunday roast, whip up a quick last minute dinner during the week, and even cook oatmeal in it a few times per week for breakfast.

Maybe the Instant Pot has become a staple appliance in your home. But then you start to wonder what else this electric pressure cooker can do.

I’m here with some fun ideas for unusual ways to make the most from your Instant Pot.

While these may not be the things you will be making on a weekly or even monthly basis, they are fun to try and have their good uses.

This is not your grandmas’s pressure cooker! Just wait til you see what you can do with it!

Bake A Cheese Cake

YES! Yes you should! (And you have so many options for variety!)

The Instant Pot makes some of the yummiest and easiest cheese cakes.

Yes, that’s right. You can bake in your Instant Pot.

You’ll need a spring form pan that fits inside your Instant Pot, the rack that came wth your Instant Pot for the baking pan to sit in, and of course a delicious cheese cake recipe.

I’ve gotcha covered! 😉

Of course, a quick Google search will bring up an almost endless supply of yummy recipes to try. In fact, your biggest struggle will be narrowing down the options. Or, why not try one a day for a week? 🙂

Once you narrow down your options, pick one and get baking!

Before long you’ll be making one of your favorite indulging desserts in your very own Instant Pot.

This is perfect for when you want to impress your guests or bring something unusual to the next pot luck. And you watch…most people will never believe you made it in a pressure cooker!

Can Some Jam

Traditional pressure cookers are great for canning all sorts of fruits and vegetables. While the Instant Pot wasn’t designed with canning and food preservation in mind, you can do a little small batch canning in it.

This is perfect if you want to turn some of those ripe fruits from the local farmers market into delicious artisan jam.

Use the Instant Pot to preserve and pressure seal your jars. Since you’re processing in small batches, you can try out various, different and fun recipes and end up with some delicious jams and preserves to enjoy throughout the year.

Make Homemade Vanilla Extract

Do you use vanilla extract in your cooking and baking? I go through quite a bit, particularly during the holiday season. There’s nothing quite like real vanilla extract, but let’s be honest, it’s outrageously pricey.

And if you’ve ever ventured to make it on your own, it can take up to a year to make it. (So all the flavors meld together just the right way.)

I don’t know about you, but if I need good and tasty, homemade vanilla, then I don’t have a year to wait – by that time, I’ll forget what I’m making! LOL

I’ll bet you guessed that there’s an easy solution? Of course, it’s…..The INSTANT POT!!

Why not make your own homemade vanilla extract in your Instant Pot?

That’s right… you can make your own homemade version using real vanilla beans. I prefer this non-alcoholic variation of homemade vanilla. Not only is it some of the best tasting extract you’ll ever use, it’s also a wonderful gift to give to loved ones.

All Natural Cosmetics

My daughter and I love chapstick. In fact, we go through so much chapstick that it was far more economical for us to make our own, rather than purchase the expensive store-bought versions.

Enter the Instant Pot!

When you make chapstick, it’s important to keep the liquid warm so the beeswax doesn’t harden.

Here is what I do:

Plug in my Instant Pot and turn the simmer feature on low. Add in 1/2 cup oil (it can be a blend of rose hip, coconut, almond, jojoba, etc. oil – any oil that will make your skin rejuvenate.) I also like to add a few drops of Vitamin C & E oil, as well.

Add 1/2 cup butter (shea, cocoa, mango, etc.)

Add 1/4 cup beeswax.

Then add essential oils. I LOVE this blend for a happy, cheerful smell. Other oil combinations I love are:

Really, any combination you like is totally fine. Add in enough drops of essential oil until the fragrance is to your liking.

Then pour the concoction into lip balm containers using this tool and this tool. I’ve also poured it into mini mason jars for an option that I can dip into.

You can follow this same procedure to make lotions and face creams as well. Hint: Pour the lotions into a mold to make cute little shapes. Also a great gift idea – you’re welcome! 😉

Use The Instant Pot to Heat Up Your Left Overs

If you’re looking for a great alternative to the microwave for heating up your leftovers, look no further than the Instant Pot.

Use this cool gadget to stack your leftovers and reheat them like a boss! You might even find you don’t need your microwave anymore!

Just make sure to always have water in the Instant Pot. Forgetting to add water, could result in a not pretty situation. I may or may not be speaking from experience! 🙂

For specifics on how to reheat food using your Instant Pot, I’m going to refer you to the experts. Because….reasons!

Make Your Own Bone Broth in the Instant Pot

Again, I’m all for saving time and making bone broth is a time consuming process!

But not in the Instant Pot!

What would normally take me a couple of days – yes you read that right – can take me a couple of hours in the Instant Pot.

I just choose high quality beef bones, throw them in my Instant Pot, add a splash of Apple Cider Vinegar, a little Himalayan salt, and put it on manual pressure for 240 minutes. And then i forget about it!

When the timer dings, I know I have good, and nourishing bone broth and the benefits of that are amazing!

These are Just a Few Ideas

Hopefully you see now that the Instant Post is really only limited by your imagination. You can make so many yummy, useful, and healthy things in it!
